Parent Teacher conference day takes place twice a year, offering parents and teachers the opportunity to come together and discuss the student’s academic progress and behavior. This year, the conference took place on Friday, November 15th, starting at 5 P.M., with a strong turnout from parents.
Upon arriving at the school, parents are handed their children’s report cards, after which they visit different teachers. They choose which teachers to talk to depending on their child’s grade and performance. To maintain order in the bustling hallways, some students volunteer to guide parents to the appropriate classrooms.
One such volunteer was freshman Natali Paichadze, who eagerly requested to participate in the conference. As an usher, her primary responsibility was to assist parents in locating the correct rooms for their meetings. To ensure they could be easily identified, ushers wore a school badge and some also carried a sheet listing the locations of all teachers.
Natali shared her perspective on the significance of Parent-Teacher Conferences. She explained that the event not only helps parents understand their child’s academic progress but also benefits students directly. According to her, the conference provides an opportunity for students to address any issues with grades or specific subjects. “After the conference students are able to disclose any problems they have with a subject or a grade. This is important because it helps them clarify their challenges and work towards better results in the future.” she said.
Reflecting on her experience as an usher, Natali said the role allowed her to connect more closely with both students and teachers. Most importantly, she says: “while being an usher, you feel like a part of something.”
